With the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival fast approaching, there’s no better time to take a closer look at Scotland’s capital city.

Edinburgh is known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and lively cultural scene. But it’s also a vibrant business hub and a great place to start or grow a business.

A 2021 study revealed Edinburgh as the top city for high-growth businesses outside of London. It found that cities with strong local technology ecosystems, universities, accelerator programmes, business incubators, and investment sources such as angel or private equity investors, are more likely to generate business growth – and Edinburgh has these in abundance.

What’s more, in 2022, Edinburgh was crowned the best British city for business outside of London by Management Today. The study assessed cities on their private sector ecosystem, strength of innovation, number of high-growth businesses, access to a skilled workforce, and quality of life.

At Inigo Business Centres, we’ve been operating flexible offices at Rutland Square in the heart of the city for many years. We get to enjoy Edinburgh’s vibrant business community and quality of life every day – so why not come and share it with us?

Cristelle manages our Rutland Square workspace, which is located in the financial business district just off Princes Street. It’s a fantastic location for business and is convenient for both Haymarket and Waverley stations.

According to Cristelle, the centre is surrounded by a huge choice of coffee shops and restaurants. Our clients at Rutland Square have a few personal favourites for on-the-go coffee or lunch, including Café Nero, Starbucks, Pret A Manger, Dr. Noodles, and Taco Bell. For longer lunches, Fox and Co, Ask Italian, Bar Burrito, West End Brasserie, Inigo Yard, or The Huxley get our vote.

Fancy a lunchtime stroll? Our clients regularly head out to enjoy a walk around Princes Street Gardens or The Meadows. Right opposite the centre is Rutland Square Gardens – a lovely spot to sit and have lunch.

For business meetings and lunches, Cristelle can help with reservations for local venues or provide catering in one of our elegant meeting rooms.

We offer a beautiful boardroom that seats up to 22 people or a spacious meeting room for up to 6 people, each offering fast Wi-Fi, LED screens, and a variety of catering options ranging from tea and biscuits to large buffet-style arrangements.

Less Work, More Play

While Rutland Square is a great place to start or grow a business, Edinburgh has plenty of lifestyle attractions on offer, too.

Throughout the year, visitors and locals alike enjoy all sorts of events including the International Science Festival, Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Hogmanay, and of course the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – the largest arts festival in the world.

Events aside, the city is home to instantly recognisable landmarks including Edinburgh Castle – a magnificent fortress perched on top of Castle Rock, which is a must-visit at any time of the year.

Other well-known attractions are Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat, and The Royal Mile is well worth a visit too. Walk along the famous street from Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and browse the many shops, restaurants, and attractions along the way, including St. Giles’ Cathedral, the Real Mary King’s Close, and the Museum of Edinburgh.

Whether for business or leisure, Edinburgh has so much to offer. Now you’ve had a brief introduction, why not come and see the sights for yourself?

Pop in for a coffee and tour our range of elegantly furnished flexible office space in Edinburgh’s Rutland Square. Even better, book a meeting room or a coworking day pass to really get a feel for the environment. We look forward to meeting you!
